ELIGIBILITY AND RULES

 

  1. Eligibility
    1. The team must be composed of officially registered participants in the tournament, must have complied with the minimum number of rounds prescribed by the Adjudication Core to break, and must have paid the complete registration fee.
    2. Institutions who have already reached the Semifinals of previous National Asian Tournaments, namely Philippine Inter-collegiate Debate Championships and Inquirer Inter-Collegiate Debate Championships are not eligible.
    3. International institutions, composite teams and teams of institutions who did not send a corresponding adjudicator per team are also ineligible.
  2. Selection of Semifinalists
    1. There will be four teams qualifying for the Semifinals Round.
    2. Each semifinalist must not be a part of the Tournament Main Break (Top 16) and must be the top seeded team (by number of wins, aggregate speaker scores and score margins, accordingly) of their respective region.
    3. One team shall be chosen to represent each region (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR).
  3. Match-ups
    1. The match-ups will be based on the ranking of the team in the tournament tabs.
    2. The 1st and 4th ranked teams and the 2nd and 3rd ranked teams shall meet in the Semifinals, regardless of their region.
    3. The winner of each Semifinals room shall proceed to the Championship Round of the Union Cup.
  4. Motions and Adjudication

The Adjudication Core shall determine the motions and judge allocation for each room of the Semifinals and the Championship Round.
